The
"Club Model" is Nearly Indestructible Because the Lido 14 is ideal for beginners and novices, it is an extremely popular boat for sailing schools and rental facilities. It has comfortable contoured seats that make inexperienced sailors feel safe and confident. It is easy to handle, but really exciting to sail. The Lido sails well under main alone, but it also has a jib. This offers a terrific opportunity for a first-time sailor to progress from the basics to advanced one-design racing. The cockpit can accommodate an instructor and several students, or a two-man racing team. The Lido is available in a special "Club" version that has been modified especially for high usage sailing schools and rental facilities. In order to stand up to the added wear and tear boats encounter in a typical sailing program, our Club Model is built with added layers of fiberglass in all vulnerable areas. The bow is reinforced to withstand crash landings, and the deck and all radiuses in the seating area are given extra layers of fiberglass. The centerboard and rudder are also reinforced, and the boat is equipped with standing rigging that is larger than what is provided for the standard Lido. A durable rub rail and a tilt-up rudder can also be added. Orange Coast College's School of Sailing & Seamanship, located in Newport Beach, has one of the most successful sailing schools on the West Coast. They have been using the Lido for many years and find it to be the perfect boat for their Beginning and Intermediate courses. More information about their use of the Lido can be found on their web site - www.occsailing.com. Click on Sailing Classes and then Learn to Sail.
CLUB MODEL LIDO 14 FOR HIGH USAGE SAILING SCHOOLS & RENTAL FACILITIES Standard Description HULL The
hull is 100% hand laid up fiberglass, and a high gloss gel coat is used. The
hull is engineered and built to yield strength and rigidity with
reinforcement in areas where large loads may be exerted. The standard
"club model" includes the following additions intended to
strengthen the hull and centerboard well in areas vulnerable to damage from
high usage: ·
Glass is added to the hull aft of the centerboard trunk. ·
Glass is added down the bow stem and forefoot. ·
Woven roving replaces the cloth in the hull lay ups. ·
Glass is added at the pivot pin of the centerboard. ·
A large piece of wood is installed to receive the screws of the
centerboard cap. DECK The
deck is also 100% hand laid up fiberglass. Wood, foam, and additional
fiberglass laminations are applied in load bearing areas. The deck is a
unitized structure that includes the foredeck, side decks, seats,
centerboard trunk housing, and cockpit sole. It is attached to the hull with
a continuous bond for high strength. A durable custom rub rail is applied to
the gunwale for added protection. The standard "club model"
includes the following additions intended to strengthen the deck: ·
Glass is added at the inboard and outboard corners of the seat and at
the corner of the seat riser. ·
Glass is added to the foredeck. STANDARD COLOR The
standard color of the hull is white. The deck is light gray to minimize
glare. The waterline can be either red or blue. A full range of colors for
the hull and waterline are available as options. HARDWARE A
stainless steel bow fitting and an upgraded mast hinge are standard. The
mast hinge makes raising and lowering the mast extremely easy. Ronstan cam
cleats are used for the jib sheets. The mainsheet is trimmed with a Harken
combination ratchet block and cam cleat swivel. The shroud adjusters make
set-up fast and easy. CENTERBOARD The
centerboard is constructed of fiberglass to a high aspect, hydrodynamic
foil. The centerboard for the "club model" has glass added down
the center and just below the point of bearing at the hull. The board is
suspended by two stainless steel straps that are inserted into the trunk.
This makes it possible not to compromise the watertight integrity of the
trunk. The hardware is Harken. RUDDER The
rudder blade is constructed of fiberglass. The rudder head and tiller are
anodized aluminum. A hiking stick is included. Schaefer pintles and gudgeons
are installed in place of the standard. SPARS AND RIGGING Both
the mast and boom are silver anodized. The mast of the "club
model" is a larger section than is used in the standard Lido 14. The
diamond spreaders have been eliminated. The 1 x 19 stainless steel
vinyl-covered shrouds come with easily adjusted turnbuckles. The vinyl cover
helps keep the sails clean. The main and jib halyards are Dacron yacht
braid. A stronger gooseneck fitting is provided, and jib hounds with shroud
tangs add strength to the rig. A 2:1 outhaul makes sail adjustment easy, as
does the 3:1 boom vang. Colored lines are provided for easy identification
of the lines. SAILS Elliott/Pattison
main and jib are standard. The head of the main has a foam floatation panel
and is equipped with a set of reef points. Jib sheets are standard. STANDARD RETAIL PRICE
